Epilogue

 Greetings Apprentice. My name is Arabesh Cauldron, and as head of the order of Mages I will try to inaugurate you into the Arts of Magic. It shouldn’t be taken lightly to manipulate the forces of nature and the universe. The use of magic isn’t given to everyone, and even the most skilled magicians have lost their mind or have died, trying to master the arts of magic. To understand magic, one needs a strong mind and will. It all has to do with bending nature and the universe into the shape you want. The apprentices, who will be educated at the High Council of Magic here in Hymar, have distinguished themselves from the masses by their special skills and interest in the Magic Arts. They've been picked for their eagerness and perseverance by the elders of the Order of Mages. If you think you have what it takes to be a Magic user, you have to be prepared for many years of study and reading, to master the art. And even then, after many years of solitude and devotion to the magic, when you think you have mastered the art completely, you'll discover there is always someone more powerful and skilled in the Arts then you are.

There are many spells, which have vanished during the great flood (some 1044 years ago). Many have searched for them, but only few have been retrieved.  There are some very powerful spells amongst them, and only the most skilled mages can handle them.

The Book of Magic 

Introduction to the Art.

The world and the universe are build of several elements, which occur in every material around you. Even if a substance isn’t build solely by one of the elements, it is somehow linked to it or has a certain effect on it.

The most primary elements are: Fire, Water, Earth and Air

 Most components used in Magic spells and rituals, are made or linked by one of the elements mentioned above. During the past centuries, Magicians, Sorcerers, Conjurers and the like, have mastered the art of using the elements for their purpose. Using their strong minds and intelligence, to mold the elements as they saw fit. Many spells were made over the years, and have been recorded by the most skilled Magic users. The largest collection of spells in Calania can be found at the High Council of Magic, here in Hymar. 

We make a distinction between different ways of using the Art of Magic: 

   First of all we distinct several kinds of Magic users. They all follow a different path of Magic. Which path they follow, and what kind of Magic user  they are is described below. The categories of magic, follow in importance and difficulty. For example, a Wizard has followed the path of Illusion to a high level, before he can take the path of elemental Magic. A Conjurer has taken both the path of Illusion and the path of Elemental Magic to a high level, before he can take the path of conjuring.
