Calania : A short introduction.

Calania is the land where all things take place. It is a prosperous nation, connected to the Casperian Sea in the North East. Here you can find a large Port, near the capital city: Brenndan. In this Trading Harbor ships come and go, creating a constant flow of goods going in and out of the country. The land in Calania is very fertile, and many people are growing crops and raising cattle. On the Eastern borders of Calania lies the Neg'Rak mountain range, rich on resources. Gold, Iron, Gems and Diamonds are the most important goods to be found here. Around the city of Moldovar the largest concentration of people in the Eastern lands can be found. Most of them are working in the old Dwarf mines of Neg'rak mountains, digging for the seemingly unending supply of natures resources. Marlonn, a town settled about 160 Km West of Moldovar, is the center of Calania's Metal industry. Here, the Iron Ores are melted and forged to the best weapons known to the world. People all over the world speak with great respect about the craftsmanship of the blacksmiths of Marlonn. These three types of industry are the pillars of Calania's Economy. They are the foundations of Calania's welfare, but have also become the greatest threat.

People of Calania

The land is populated by many races. Humans, Elves and Dwarves live together in "peace". Many immigrants of several races have come and settled in Calania over the years. Especially from Bjordann (in the east, past Neg'Rak mountains) and Freitall (in the South East), Humans and Dwarves have come, hoping to find wealth and fortune.
Drawn by the prosperity, Orcs and Goblins have invaded the southern lands of Calania. Their main goal is to raid the trading Caravans, traveling to Brenndan, to deliver their precious goods to the Docks for shipment.                                   Back to Index

Geography and Climate

Calania is mainly covered with hills and plains, with the exception of the southwestern part below Brenndan, which is flat and very fertile. These fertile lands are very suitable for growing all sorts of crops, like wheat, corn, grain and several other basic food crops. A bit more to the Southeast, around the city of Alsom, lie huge orchards  where all kinds of fruits are grown. Further to the south, the land becomes more mountainous. Due to the warm climate there are many wine grape farms, and wine production is a common industry in these parts. These wines are well known in the world, and are an important export product for Calania. Especially "the Calanic Warrior blood" (a very stubborn wine), is a well known export wine, which is famed all over the world as one of the best wines.

Known facts

For over two centuries now, Calania is a Kingdom. Before this time the land was occupied by many tribes, who fought over each piece of land they could get their hands on.  This all changed after "the Battle of the Flaming Blade".  After this battle, the tribes were united by the new King Ashligard, who has devoted the rest of his life to bring peace and prosperity to the people of Calania.  It's a shame that despite all efforts,  prosperity is one of the main threats to Calania. Neighboring countries and rulers, all look jealously at this and all want a piece of the cake.
