Click the logo to return to the Portal. On this page we try to explain the most common questions about our game and website. Of course we can not explain everything because we have created the rules and for us they are familiar ground. But we can understand they may not be so straight forward to our visitors. So if you might have anymore questions about the game, please contact us and we will provide you with the answers (and don't be surprised when your question and our answer pop-up here on this page).
- What do I need to play the game? Everything you need can be found in our download section. The Game manual, All Game boards and Cards, Character sheets, Characters and Accessories. Complete adventures to play can be found on the scenario page. Of course you need a (preferably a color) printer. Furthermore you need about 6 or 8 normal gaming dice (D6) and 1 ten-sided die (D10), and some miniatures (or pawns) to represent the Heroes and the monsters. The original Heroquest game (tm) is a great starting point for this RPG expansion of the game. And please don't forget to ask a few friends to play the game with you (they are essential). 3 or 4 of them will be enough.
First you download all the necessary parts from our site. Then you print the Gaming Boards, Rooms, Corridors and Gaming Cards. Cut them out and glue them on a thin piece of cardboard for the needed thickness and strength. You can get the best result by printing these on Photo printing paper. This way the print is much better (because of the fine structure of the paper), and you already have a certain thickness so you won't have to glue the prints on a piece of cardboard. The spells and character sheets can be printed on normal (A4) printing paper. Once you have printed and cut all the needed parts you are ready to play the game, provided that you have a scenario to play of course.
First you should learn the basic rules (which are quite simple). Then you must read the Gamesmaster section of the manual or on the site. If you have done this, you are ready to play. Invite some friends, prepare the gaming table and make sure you have something to drink and a few snacks at hand, and have fun. You can set the mood during game play by playing a CD with some instrumental (preferably film) music. This way you create an atmosphere.
- Why aren't the dialogues in the scenarios written completely? The reason why the dialogues aren't written completely, as are some parts of the stories, is because it gives the Gamesmaster a bit of room for his/her own input. Because of this you can give the adventure a personal touch. You can describe the room or corridor in which the players are (What do they hear? What does it look like? What do they smell? etc.) There is enough room for improvising and also to react on what the Players (PCs) offer you during the game. The PCs all react in a different way on the story and the events that take place in the game. It is your task as Gamesmaster to react on that and to take the story further than just the written scenario.
- I want to play the role of the Gamesmaster. What do I do? In the manual and in the Gamesmaster section of our site, we explain how to become a Gamesmaster. Here you can read about how to run a game, how to write your own adventures, all the loopholes and traps and much more. You can also check out our forum, where you can find a lot of topics about Games mastering. Here you can find several different visions and tips and tricks on this subject. If you have any further questions about Games mastering, all you have to do is register to the forum and start posting. There will always be someone there who will answer your questions and share his/her thoughts.
- The Players are stuck in a part of the game. What now? Well, sometimes this happens. You're playing the game and the Players (PCs) have to solve a riddle to progress in the game. And sometimes they can't find the solution. You (as a Gamesmaster) can help them out by introducing a NPC (=Non Playing Character) who can provide some hints to crack the code. If you want to know more about NPC's and the way to play them, follow this link.
- I want to share my experiences and thoughts about the game. Where can I do this? There is a section on our website, which is called the Infinite Forum. Here you can see what others have to say about the game or about the way they play the game. But maybe you have some more questions for the How? or What? category. You can post your questions there and you'll surely get an answer within a few days. The forum is a part of the Infinite Quest community, and is meant to give people a "Platform" to pronounce their thoughts and ideas about our game, and about other Role-playing games like Dungeons & Dragons (tm), D20 systems, computer RPG's and such. In the Forum we also have a virtual inn, where you can introduce yourself and chat with other players around the globe, and we have an Interactive story.
- I want to sign up for the Forum. Great! The more, the merrier we say. If you follow this link: the Infinite Forum you will enter the forum as a guest. You can have a look around as a guest, and view all topics. However: you are not allowed to participate or post anything. When you decide to sign up, you'll see the Register Button in the upper right corner . Click this and you'll get a legal notice, and you can register by choosing a member-name and giving a valid e-mail address. Our server will mail you a password and you can now enter the forum by clicking the Log-in button in the right upper corner or by filling out the input fields at the bottom of the page. Once you have logged in, you can fill out your detailed member profile and add your personal avatar (picture), and start posting or replying to other members. Can this game be played On-line? Yes. Since a few months it is possible for you to play our game on-line. For this purpose we have created a Role-play forum, where the game can be played. It is played with altered rules (to adjust it for on-line play), but the basic Infinite Quest rules are used. It is played in our virtual world Calania and there's much to explore. Meet famous residents of Calania, explore and taste the culture of many races who live in this fabled lands. Bash skulls and find long lost treasures. Explore caves and dungeons, and become a fabled hero of the crown. Just take this link to join. But beware: There are some forum rules applied, to keep things clean, plain and simple. Read the forum rules before applying and registering, to save yourself and us a lot of disappointment. The rules seem a bit harsh, but we want to avoid the forum to be overrun by bogus members (people who register without the intention to participate). Because running this forum, and several separate adventures and player groups, takes a lot of time we have put up these rules, so try to respect them. Convinced? Then join up and prepare yourself for an exciting adventure that lies ahead.
